Baccarat - Quick Guide

What You Need to Know

  • Played with 6–8 decks.
  • Three main bets: Player, Banker, Tie.
  • Cards are dealt in order: Player, Banker, Player, Banker.
  • If either side totals 8 or 9 (a Natural), no more cards are drawn.
  • Only the last digit of the total matters (14 = 4).
  • Player and Banker may get a third card, but the rules are fixed.
  • Standard payouts: Player 1:1, Banker 0.95:1, Tie 8:1 (varies).
  • Exception (No Commission Baccarat): Banker wins 1:1 except on 6, payout 0.5.
  • Common extras: Player/Banker Pair and other side bets.

How It Works

  • Card values: A = 1, 2–9 = face value, 10/J/Q/K = 0.
  • Player draws on 0–5, stands on 6–7; 8–9 stops everything.
  • Banker draws using a strict chart that depends on the Player’s third card.
  • Exception: Banker draws a third card on a 0–5 total when the Player’s first two cards total 6 or 7, even though the Player does not draw a third card.
  • Higher single-digit total wins.
  • Side bets pay based on the first two cards only.
