Weapons (Guns, Tasers, Ammo, etc.)
Standard citizens cannot participate in these auctions. When you have a valid inquiry, the following steps need to be taken:
1. Buyer needs to provide their Federal Firearms License (FFL) and/or other requirements. It’s listed within the Buyer FAQs on GovDeals (Restricted Auctions article). They can e-mail it to customerservice@govdeals.com
2. Bidders Services needs to validate the FFL. This can be done via this pathway: LEAP > Explore > Authorized Bid Restrictions > Within the "Restriction" dropdown, select "Gun Deals (Licensed)" > Click on the Verify FFL hyperlink - it will open in a new tab (https://www.atfonline.gov/fflezcheck/) > Enter the buyer's FFL Number
3. If the FFL Number is valid, go back to the LEAP tab, then enter the Buyer ID, then click "Grant"
4. Go to the buyer's LEAP record, and then make a note with a reminder (remove FFL on X date since it expires - the expiration date is listed within the FFL search results).
Fire Departments, Law Enforcement
Please note that their agency must be funded by tax payers to qualify to buy under this restriction. Security companies commissioned to a law enforcement post do not qualify. Constables do not qualify. When you have a valid inquiry, the following steps need to be taken:
1. Buyer needs to send a copy of their government issued photo ID along with a letter from their superior on their agency's letterhead, authorizing them to buy for their agency. In the letter, also indicate that it is known that the item is for agency use only and not for resale or personal use. They can e-mail all of this to customerservice@govdeals.com.
2. Bidder Services assesses the documentation. If it's valid, take this pathway: LEAP > Explore > Authorized Bid Restrictions > Within the "Restriction" dropdown, select "Fire Departments" or "Law Enforcement," whichever applies
3. Enter the Buyer ID, then click "Grant"
4. Go to the buyer's LEAP record, and then make a note.
Gun Dealers Restriction

2. Bidder Services assesses the documentation. If it's valid, take this pathway: LEAP > Explore > Authorized Bid Restrictions > Within the "Restriction" dropdown, select the applicable option.
