How to Customize Secure Messaging File Attachments

Secure Messaging is a front-end and server-based approach to enable end-to-end secure communication with your clients and protect sensitive data. You can manage the file attachment policy and can enable or disable attachments on Contact replies from the Attachment tab. Moreover, you can even set file size and manage file types to allow over a Secure Messaging channel.

Step by Step Instructions

To customize the file attachments, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to your Comm100 Control Panel.
  2. From the left navigation menu, go to Ticketing & Messaging > Channels > Secure Messaging.
  3. Click the Secure Messenger link or click the Edit icon from the list of previously created secure messengers.

  4. Navigate to the Attachment tab, and do the following:
    1. Input the Max file size of the attachment.
Note: You can set the file size up to 20 MB, and it applies to each attachment that the contact adds to a message.
    2. Select the Allow attachments in Contact replies check box if you want the contact to send attachments with their replies to an existing Secure Messaging case.
    3. Select the Define allowed file types check box to allow specific file types for attachment.
Note: If the Define allowed file types check box is disabled, all file types are allowed by default.
    4. Provide the allowed file types in the text area separated by a comma.
Note: The following file types are not supported by Comm100 for security purposes: .EXE, .SYS, .SRC, .CMD, .BAT, .RAR, .DLL, .COM, .ISO, .HTML, .RM, .AVI, .TMP, .MDF, .MID, .JAR, .PIF.
